My first opportunity to display my marketing skills was at an internship level in a small organization. I was placed as a one of marketing plans developers in the organization. For my first role, I developed an understanding on the marketing mix of the organization to my team. Firstly, it was important to identify the product of the organization, and the most probable place for the product placement. As suggested by Grewal Levy (2012) understanding the price trends in the market for similar product is also mandatory. I developed an evaluation in the value of our product against the pricing of our competitors. The pricing of our organization was relatively high that that of our competitors. This provided an opportunity to acquire a higher competit ive advantage by lowering the price.My participation in developing segmentation, positioning and targeting strategies were exceptional. I was required to segment the target market based on demand levels. For my organization, the target market was mainly comprised of young people.
